Information Security.

You know I have seen a great deal of news reports on internet security, most of all in the last few weeks. Some of the stories are very true, like Russia and China and others piggybacking your computer, in other words using it as a slave. In the same instance they also mine for personal information, anything they can get their hands on benefits them.

Everyone these days has a correct way of dealing with these threats, and I guess mine is no different. I use the common sense approach. If it sounds too good to be true or easy it will not work properly. When you download free software online you get it is a trial version, when the trial is over you either pay for it or it just hangs out on your computer popping up from time to time asking you to buy it, it gets kind of annoying.

Some of the simple things you can do is keep your computers "Up Dates" up to date. Also if you have a Virus program keep it updated as well.  If you do not have a Virus Program you should get one, they are inexpensive in most cases and your information deserves this. Use obscure passwords, names and numbers mixed. Also change them from time to time. With email, never open an email from someone you do not know, if the email says FREE MONEY just open attachment, VIRUS.
You can use programs like Lockbin it is a true 256 bit security encryption program, also Symantec Drive encryption. Cost around $25.00. That's not a bad price for protecting your personal Data.

You can also go to even a more secure way by using Oracle Virtual Box. This option  is great for browsing anonymous on the net. The software is free from Oracle.

The best advice is to use sites with HTTPS: tags and change passwords often, and most of all do not give personal information anyone you do not know. The approach to security on the Internet is common sense.
